STEAK STREET TACOS
These street tacos are seriously so delicious and easy to make. Although the tacos are simple, they are so flavorful and filling. I got my inspiration of this recipe from the tacos I ate while visiting Barcelona. My best friend and I found this cute little restaurant in a small alley .... and not to be dramatic but their food changed my life. We wanted to visit as many restaurants in the city as possible, but we ended up going to this place at least 3x while we were there for two weeks. Their food (especially their tacos) were so f***ing good, I swear I couldn't get enough. If you ever visit Barcelona, let me know and I'll find the name of this restaurant because you MUST go.
What I love about street tacos is that there are so many variations of it. You can use steak, chicken, or shrimp and add any type of toppings you desire. I kept these tacos very simple, but you can find more recipes on Pinterest or Google for different types.
INGREDIENTS:
- corn tortillas
- skirt steak
- white onion
- fresh cilantro
- 1 packet of jasmine rice
- juice of 1 lime
- seasoning: Cavendars all purpose seasoning
Heat a medium sized skillet with olive oil and then season the skirt steak. I used Cavendars seasoning because it was recommended by my roommate. Not sure where she got it but I'm sure you could find it at any local grocery store. You could also just season the steak with salt and pepper. Place the steak on the skillet once it is hot. I had to cut my steak into 2 pieces to make sure it could fit. Once the steak has a nice sear, flip it over to cook on the other side. Let it cook until the steak is the color you desire on the inside. Once it is cooked, let it rest on a plate. After the steak has cooled down a bit, slice the steak into thin pieces. You could also just chop it up, but I wanted longer pieces.
Dice a white onion and chop up fresh cilantro. The amount will vary depending on how many people you are feeding. Add the onion and cilantro into a small bowl and mix together (this will be used later as a topping for the tacos).
As a side, I decided to make a cilantro lime rice. I suggest buying the individual packets of rice that you cook in the microwave for 90 seconds. The packets are so affordable and saves a ton of time and effort. After cooking in the microwave, pour the rice into a small bowl and give a quick stir to break up the rice a little. Next, add in chopped cilantro and the juice of a lime. Quick tip: roll the lime on the counter to get more juice out of it before cutting. After adding the lime and cilantro, give the rice another stir to mix it all together.
Heat the corn tortillas on a pan on the stove until they soften and are warm. Add the steak and onion on top and the street tacos are ready! One thing I wish I had added was some salsa or some type of light dressing.
ENJOY :)
Thank god I'm getting tacos tonight, those look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis looks super good! If you ever make rice instead of using the packets, I seriously suggest throwing some chicken bouillon in there. Gives it a completely different flavor. I know Knorr is a good brand :) you can get it at Walmart!
